I've tried on the Atom LT Jacket in stores and absolutely love how it looks & fits, but obviously its much thinner so not good for my current use. My thought would be that it could negate the need for my toque under my helmet which sort of covers my ears, but does anyone have any experience with this and is it even worth it for this situation (or good for biking)? The only other benefit I see is the collar goes up higher to cover the mouth a bit which could help on colder & windier city days.Īs for the non-hooded - I prefer the aesthetics of not having a hood flop around when not in use and the simplicity, and its a tad bit cheaper with which I could just spend the money on a proper biking hat that covers my ears rather than my toque. My use is primarily for winter days and colder fall/spring days where temps are around 5C to -15C, both in casual wear around the city and biking.įor the hood benefits I know it is helmet compatible but I haven't yet had such a hood so I don't know how useful this feature is for biking. In past years my equivalent jacket was (regrettably) some bargain Uniqlo puffer jacket that had a crappy detachable hood and I typically just kept the hood detached and resorted to my long hooded winter parka on super cold days. I understand a lot of it is personal preference but I was just wondering if there were any anecdotes that people could share to help my decision. I've finally narrowed down my jacket search to the Atom AR, and at this point I'm just torn between going for the hooded version vs.
